YELLOW JACKETS STING BADGERS!!

Trinity York

March 4, 1998

From the beginning, it was Mountain View's game. They gathered the tip, and scored all of the points in the first quarter. Jason Gilbert sank a three-pointer, as did Ryan Webb. Webb and Chris George also added in jump-shots. The first quarter score was 19-0; Mountain View.

In the second quarter, Eudora seemed to find its feet and started a come-back. Ken Campbell made four free-throws, and Walter Toney pitched in three of them. Marquist Jones made a great play with a steal and shot on the press, but the Yellowjackets were not ready to give up yet. Matt Dearien made three of four shots from the scarlet stripe, while Russell Simmons did a spin and a flip into the basket. Ryan Webb ran a coast to coast, and Cris Cartwright gained a two pointer, a foul, and an introduction to the floor! The score at half-time was 40-18; Mountain View.

The last half was high scoring for both teams. Derik Cartwright , from Mountain View, made a steal and shot from the press, and his teammate Jason Gilbert showed off his dribbling ability by running circles around four defenders. On the other hand, Avery Terry put up a "sweet" jump-shot from outside for the Badgers, and Trenton Terry sank a three. Things only went down from there for the Badgers. Danny Snyder got an intentional foul, and the players started showing their fatigue. However, things were not going just great for the Yellowjackets either. One of their starters, Matt Dearien, fouled out with two minutes and forty-three seconds left in the fourth quarter. The Eudora team then made an out of control pass that missed its target and beaned a cheerleader. Marquist Jones tried to help the Badgers back into the game with a long jumper and a power shot , but the damage had been done and it was too late. The final score was Mountain View-72 ; Eudora-46 .
