LEOPARDS AND EAGLES FIGHT IT OUT!!
The Eagles tried their best to overcome the odds, but this time they just could not make it work. The tip off did go to the Eagles, but at the end of the first the score was DeQueen-15, Vilonia-12. In the first quarter DeQueen shot an airball that left the Eagles wide open for a break-away lay-up. Despite Vilonia's hustle for the ball, the half-time score was 25-21 DeQueen.
Early in the third quarter, Dana Harbor stepped up to the charity stripe and put down two for the Eagles, which was followed by a long jump-shot for two. Despite the hard zone defense, Lindsay Lawrence from Vilonia scored a power shot. Two three-pointers were put in by Sara Revels, but they were countered by Vilonia's Haley Saddler with a three of her own. At the end of the third, the score was 40-38 and the lead still belonged to the Leopards.
The fourth quarter was where the action began. Vilonia attacked with a great attempt to gain the lead and Andrea Brewer drove past 4 defensive players for the shot. Then #44, Saddler, hit a three to tie them with the Leopard at 42. Next DeQueen came back with a break-away lay-up, a long jumper , and two free- throws to bring them one point ahead. With twenty-seven seconds left, the score was 48-47, DeQueen. The Eagles tried to break ahead, but the free-throw that went down for Julie Tollett sealed their fate. The final score; Leopards 49, Eagles 47.
