The Drew Central Lady Pirates and the Lonoke Lady Jack Rabbits opened the Girls State AA Tournament at 1:00 Tuesday afternoon. Lonoke bounced into action with a 7-0 run, but with the help of Crystal Shepard and Tremesha Colbert, Drew Central came back with 15 unanswered points to make the score 15-7. By half time the score was 35-19 with the Pirates in the lead. Tremesha Colbert was the "hot" player under the boards, but Amy Gibson's three pointers made the game exciting. At one point, Tiffany Chavis, DC's twin of the TC combination, appeared to be in trouble with her knee injury from last Saturday's finals in Fountain Lake. Fortunately, she managed to finish the rest of the game! At the buzzer the score was 69-57 with DC the home -court victor. Most of the fans agreed that the three-point plays and the strong defense were the Pirates strong points.
